🍸 Hammer & Quill

French 75 at a table near the window

Our next stop takes us across town to a bar just across the street from Howard Park: Hammer & Quill 🔨 🪶

Aesthetic

Hammer & Quill mixes moody bar aesthetics with community. The art on the walls shows pictures of the South Bend of Old, while the people in the bar are all excited for the new South Bend. A quarter of the size of Salvation, this bar gives its audience an intimate experience.

Audience

Speaking of audience, if you’re looking to come here with a group larger than 8 on a busy weekend night…good luck finding enough seats for everyone. This spot is perfect for a date night or a large group on a weeknight.

Definitely plan ahead for a large group, but this place is perfect for drinks with a small group of friends or your next date night!

Affordability

At H&Q, your average cocktail might run $10-15, but they’re always running specialties! They also usually have a full stock of cheaper beers, ciders, and wine!

French 75 Review

Now, for my favorite part: H&Q’s French 75 was a little wanting compared to some of the other incredible cocktails I’ve had there. First, a classic French 75 is made with Empress gin to give it that purpley effect. Unfortunately, H&Q doesn’t have Empress, and the lemon was a little strong for my liking. However, it was still an excellent cocktail, and every other cocktail I’ve had there is phenomenal!

SO! Try it out for yourself and let me know what you think!

🎄 Two Hours Volunteering = A Family Fed*

Did you know that just two hours of ringing at a Salvation Army kettle can help feed a family of four for an entire week? That’s the power of your time. Grab a couple of friends, throw on your favorite ugly Christmas sweater, and turn it into a holiday tradition. Your smile, energy, and presence don’t just collect donations - they inspire generosity.
